The holidays are a time to reflect on all the things in our life for which we are grateful, including our GREAT dogs.
In recognizing our own good fortune, we are adopting K-9 Stray Rescue League. K-9 Stray is a local, volunteer-based organization that cares for and re-homes hundreds of dogs each year.
We can make a difference for dogs suffering from the consequences of overpopulation and abandonment. These dogs deserve a second chance at a happy life, and just like yours, a loving home. Below are some ways that you can join us in helping dogs in need this holiday season.
Donation options:
- Purchase $10.00 pre-made gift packages to be donated. Items may include, but not be limited to food, collars, leashes, and shampoo.
- Drop-off dog related items of your choice, i.e. treats, toys, etc.
- Money donations of any amount paid by cash, check (checks should be payable to K-9 Stray Rescue League)
We kindly ask that donations be made as follows:
- In person at our Oxford location (845 S. Lapeer Rd. Oxford, 48371)
- Mailed to Canine Academy P.O. Box 61 Oxford, MI 48371
We want to thank you in advance for any contributions made to this worthy cause. Let’s work together to give K-9 Stray a very Merry Christmas, and well wishes for the New Year! With training and TLC, rescue dogs can be GREAT dogs too!
As many of you know, we adopted Boone last year from the K-9 Stray Rescue League. Boone had spent several months in Humane Societies and Rescue Facilities where he ended up with an amputated tail from being in too small a crate and a severe bone infection as a result. We evaluated, trained and socialized Boone and placed him in a forever home. It has been a year since Boone was adopted by Jordan and Tim and here is what they have to say…
“We adopted Boone (Greyhound/ Irish Wolfhound) about a year ago, and he has changed our lives so much!! When Lisa introduced us to Boone at K9 Stray & Rescue we had no idea what he went through in his previous life. He would jump all over you and nip at your arms. It was obvious, that he was a lot of dog and we knew without training we wouldn’t be able to rescue him.
Boone has since completed the Off-Leash Program. We are amazed at how different he is from the first time we met him. He willingly follows our commands and is a relaxed and loving companion. He now enjoys car rides, running on the golf course, playing with squeaky toys and is now living the GREAT dog life! He truly is an amazing dog and we are so happy to give him his forever home”.
We thank you for your continued support and entrusting us with your GREAT dogs. We wish you health, happiness and prosperity in the coming year. Thank you for joining us in this worthy cause to make a difference in a dog’s life.
